Vehicle security

Car alarm and vehicle security installation in Calgary

Alarms, shock sensing and immobilisation, fitted to your vehicle and wired in properly. A security package is a separate system from a remote starter — you can have either on its own, or both fitted in the same visit.

Quoted per vehicle

Security packages are priced for your car and the features you choose.

Fitted to the vehicle

Wired to your car’s own systems, not a one-size loom.

Concealed wiring

Components mounted out of sight and cable run behind trim.

Lifetime warranty on the installation

If something we installed develops a fault, bring it back.

What it does

What a vehicle security system actually does

A security system watches the vehicle while you are not in it, and makes noise and attracts attention when something happens that should not be happening.

Depending on the equipment fitted, that can mean sounding an alarm when the vehicle is disturbed, letting you know from the remote, and adding a layer of start protection on top of what the vehicle already has. What the system can do is set by the equipment you choose and by what your particular vehicle supports.

What a security system will not do is make a vehicle theft-proof. Nothing does. What a well-chosen, properly installed system does is make the vehicle a slower, louder and more awkward target than the one parked next to it — and that is the honest version of what you are buying.

What we fit

Security options

Which of these apply depends on the vehicle and the system selected. We will tell you what your car supports before anything is ordered.

Car alarm systems

A security system fitted on its own, without a remote starter. Plenty of people want one and not the other.

Shock sensing

Where the system supports it, a sensor lets the alarm respond to impact or disturbance to the vehicle.

Immobilisation

Selected packages add start protection on top of the vehicle’s own arrangements. Availability depends on the vehicle and system.

Two-way remotes

On systems that offer it, a two-way remote confirms back to you that the vehicle actually locked or armed, instead of leaving you guessing across a car park.

Integration

Why the vehicle decides most of the job

Security equipment has to work with the car it is going into. On a modern vehicle that is a conversation between the system and the vehicle’s own electronics, not a matter of splicing into whatever is nearest.

  • Vehicle electronicsWhat your car supports sets what the system can do. Two vehicles that take the same box are not the same job.
  • Factory lockingThe system has to work with how your vehicle already locks and unlocks, so both keep behaving normally.
  • Ignition and start architectureKeyed and push-to-start vehicles are built differently, and that changes what is involved.
  • Existing factory securityYour vehicle already has arrangements of its own. The aftermarket system is fitted to sit alongside them, not fight them.
  • Interface hardwareMany vehicles need a compatible module so the system and the car understand each other.
  • ConfigurationOnce fitted, the system is set up for your vehicle and checked with you before you drive away.

Tell us the vehicle and we will tell you what it supports

Security packages are quoted per vehicle. No guesswork over the phone about a car we have not identified.

Shock and impact

Detecting that the vehicle has been disturbed

Where the equipment supports it, a shock sensor lets the system respond when the vehicle is struck or disturbed. Sensitivity is part of the setup: too low and it misses things, too high and it goes off in a car park every time a truck rolls past. We set it for your vehicle and adjust it if it turns out to be wrong for how and where you park.

What we will not tell you is that it catches everything. Impact detection responds to impact — it is one layer of a system, not a guarantee that every kind of interference with your vehicle will set the alarm off.

Start protection

Immobilisation

Some security packages include additional start protection, so that the vehicle will not simply drive away for someone who has got inside it. Whether it is available, and how it behaves, depends on the vehicle, the system chosen and how the installation is configured.

This is one of the areas where the vehicle matters most, so it is a question we answer for your specific car rather than in general terms. Ask us when you book and we will tell you what is possible on yours.

Two services, one visit

Security and remote start together

These are two separate systems and each stands on its own. A remote starter does not automatically include an alarm, and a security package does not automatically start your car. Plenty of customers want one without the other, and that is a perfectly normal way to buy.

Where a customer wants both, and the vehicle and equipment allow it, having them fitted at the same visit means the dash is opened up once instead of twice. If you already have a starter and want to add security later, that is fine too — tell us what is fitted and we will work from there.

Factory and aftermarket

What your vehicle already has

Most vehicles arrive from the factory with security arrangements of their own, and on many cars those work perfectly well for what the owner needs. We are not going to tell you that what came with your car is useless.

What an aftermarket system can add is extra functionality on top — the kind of alarm behaviour, sensing and remote confirmation the factory did not fit, chosen by you rather than by the manufacturer. Whether that is worth doing depends on your vehicle, where it is parked and what you actually want out of it. If your car already does what you need, we will say so.

Existing systems

A system that someone else fitted

A fair amount of what comes through the door is not a new install. It is an alarm going off for no obvious reason, a remote that has stopped talking to the car, or aftermarket wiring left behind by an earlier installation that is now causing a fault somewhere else entirely.

That work sits with our auto electrical side: we measure and trace before anything is replaced, and we will tell you what we find. We do not publish how any of this is defeated or worked around, for reasons that should be obvious on a page about vehicle security.

How it works

How a security install runs

  1. 01

    Vehicle and security review

Year, make and model, how the vehicle starts and locks, what is already fitted, and what you want the system to do.

  2. 02

    System selection and quote

What your vehicle supports, which features are worth it, and the price for that car before anything is ordered.

  3. 03

    Installation and integration

Fitted indoors, wired to the vehicle, components mounted out of sight and cable run behind trim.

  4. 04

    Testing and handover

Configured for your vehicle, tested with you in the bay, and we show you how to arm, disarm and live with it.

The installation standard

A security system is only as good as the way it went in

This is the part of the job you never see, and it is the part that decides whether the system is still working properly in three winters’ time.

  • Components mounted securely and out of sight, not left loose behind the dash.
  • Cable run behind trim and panels, clear of pedals, seat rails and anything that moves.
  • Power taken from an appropriate source with correct fuse protection.
  • A proper ground, made to a point intended to carry it.
  • Connections made to last through Alberta winters, not twisted and taped.
  • Factory features left working — locking, ignition and the vehicle’s own systems behave as they did.
  • Configured and tested with you before the vehicle leaves.
  • Left serviceable, so the work can be followed later by whoever opens it up.

Questions

Car alarms and vehicle security

How much does a car alarm cost installed?

Security packages are quoted per vehicle. The price depends on the car, the system and features you choose, whether an interface module is needed, what security the vehicle already has, and whether it is being combined with a remote starter. Tell us the year, make and model and we will price it properly rather than guess.

Do I need a remote starter to get an alarm?

No. A security package is a separate system and can be fitted on its own. Equally, a remote starter does not automatically include an alarm. Plenty of customers want one without the other.

Can I have both fitted at once?

Where the vehicle and equipment allow it, yes — and it is worth doing in one visit, because the dash is opened up once instead of twice.

Will an alarm stop my car being stolen?

No system makes a vehicle theft-proof, and we will not tell you otherwise. What a properly installed system does is detect disturbance, make noise, draw attention and — on packages that include it — add start protection, which together make the vehicle a slower and more awkward target.

My car already has a factory alarm. Is this worth it?

It depends on your vehicle and what you want. Many factory arrangements do the job for the owner perfectly well. An aftermarket system can add functionality the factory did not fit. If your car already does what you need, we will say so.

Will it work on a push-to-start vehicle?

Usually, though push-to-start and keyed vehicles are built differently and many cars need a compatible interface module. What your specific vehicle supports is something we confirm before anything is ordered.

Will it drain my battery?

A correctly installed system draws very little when the vehicle is parked. If you are seeing a battery go flat overnight, that is worth investigating on its own — it is a common auto electrical fault and not always caused by the last thing fitted.

My existing alarm keeps going off. Can you look at it?

Yes. Alarms triggering unexpectedly, remotes that have stopped responding and wiring left behind by a previous installation are all things we diagnose. We measure and trace before replacing anything.

Does the installation carry a warranty?

Our installation workmanship carries a lifetime warranty — if something we installed develops a fault, bring it back and we will fix it, for as long as you own the vehicle. The equipment itself carries its own manufacturer warranty, whose length and terms vary by product.
